Big Data and AI are, perhaps, the most important business technologies of the century, and they are intrinsically related. Every year, the use of AI algorithms and information sets grows and improves. Because of this, businesses become faster and more effective, and the public gets what they want quicker and more often. But what is the state of AI and Big Data, right now? In this article, we take a snapshot look at the world of information processing as it stands in the present.

In this technology-driven world, the uptake of artificial intelligence in business is accelerating at a faster pace. From Google and Amazon to Apple and Microsoft, every major tech company is working hard to set its dominance in the artificial intelligence field. Through business acquisitions and in-house AI development, the creation of new Artificial intelligence companies has access to a multitude of AI applications. Today, the most promising artificial intelligence companies offer unique and advanced AI algorithms at fast speed and more reliable solutions at competitive rates. Businesses across the globe are leveraging the benefits of AI to optimize processes or automate workflow.

Vietnam is in the nascent stages of its use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data in healthcare: only a few hospitals out of nearly 1,400 hospitals currently have any form of AI.ome notable hospitals pioneering AI applications in diagnosis and treatment, are the People's 115 Hospital and Gia An 115 Hospital. Both of which have adopted the Stanford University "RAPID" system to diagnose and treat strokes. In cancer diagnosis and treatment, three Vietnamese hospitals are leading the way in terms of digitisation, namely the National Cancer Hospital, Phu Tho General Hospital, and HCMC Oncology Hospital. These three hospitals were selected to participate in the "IBM Watson for Oncology" AI application pilot. AI can be used in various ways to improve healthcare services including, day-to-day tracking, early detection of diseases, diagnoses, and treatment planning.

This was the message that founder of WeatherOptics, Scott Pecoriello, gave me when talking about the significance of his startup. WeatherOptics began as a weather blog run by Pecoriello before it transformed into a disruptive tech startup at the end of 2016. The company started working with small scale businesses, such as summer camps, before expanding its reach into different industries to "test the waters." The startup currently has twelve employees, including a small team of engineers and meteorologists. The data side of the company is run by Jared Goldberg, while the meteorology side is run by Joshua Feldman, both of whom sat down with me alongside Scott.
